Being in the kitchen with my family is one of my most treasured pastimes. There is just something so special about sharing a cooking endeavor with my children. I love the entire experience; spending time together, teaching kitchen fundamentals and creating something we get to enjoy or give as a family. When working on a recipe together, there are so many opportunities to connect and ways to make memories to last a lifetime. It really is a full sensory experience (the food aromas, sounds of cooking or chopping, watching the food progress from one state to the next, the feel of various kitchen tools being used and all the taste testing along the way).
Though this is not a solely cooking-focused blog, cooking (and food in general) is a central element of my life. To say I love good food and sharing it with my family is an understatement and I was thrilled when Polder’s Old World Kitchen reached out recently and generously offered to send me some of their Dreamware line luxury kitchenware utensils.
When the beautifully wrapped package arrived, I was eager to share them with my children and tell them more about the family who made them. Each of the handcrafted pieces are exquisite and made by the Polder family from fallen hardwood trees on their farm. We love to support family-owned businesses and my kids excitedly pointed out the hand-carved “Polder” name and year on each piece.
We received the Best All-Purpose Spoon in Fancy Maple, the Chef’s Scoop in Beech, the Basic Cookie Spatula in Hickory and a Mini Spurtle Spreader in Walnut. We’ve already used each of the pieces and you’ll start to start to see the handmade kitchen utensils being featured in my recipes (be sure to keep an eye out; they photograph so beautifully).
These Dreamware utensils truly are a treasure to have in our kitchen; I still can’t get over their quality, versatility and rustic elegance. I’ve promised each of my kiddos that they will receive one of the utensils when they move into their first home. The idea of passing along this family-made kitchenware to my children as heirlooms and keepsakes of our time together in the kitchen makes my heart so happy.
Something else that makes me really happy is to share news that Polder’s Old World Kitchen has offered to sponsor a giveaway! We’ll be giving away a Best All-Purpose Spoon, Double Sided Measuring Spoon and Chef’s Scoop! The three piece set will come elegantly gift wrapped as a special treat to yourself or for someone you love… just in time for Christmas!
